Disabled person in the workplace: Write a script to accompany your photo story. The script should include spec?

Wednesday Jan 28, 2009

Write a script to accompany your photo story. The script should include specific details, examples, and vivid language to describe each of the eight images and their relationship to the 14th Amendment. The photo story script as a whole should thoroughly explain how the 14th Amendment has been applied in history.

Who do I see or who do I contac to get paid for being a caretaker of a disabled person? ?

Tuesday Jan 27, 2009

I live in the state of Ohio and I take care of a disabled man, who has a genetic disease called Huntington's. I heard that I could get paid but i don't know who or where to find this out.
He is unable to use his hands or make any decisions on his own. Huntingtions disease effects the brain and nerves in the body.
I forgot to say that i am his power of atorney. I just don't know who i see about being paid.

If he gets SSI/Medicaid or SSDI/Medicare - they will give him money he in turn can pay you. He may also be entitled to some home health care assistance, but then you have to be certified as a home health aide, a nurse, or have taken several courses. He has to get the ball rolling - you can't do it for him.

ETA: If he is unable to make decisions on his own - than whoever his guardian is must do it. If he doesn't have a guardian- than the state needs to get involved and appoint him one. You can not do it unless you have the legal authority to do it.

ETA: As his power of attorney you are allowed to pay yourself an appropriate amount for the services you perform. If he receives Medicare or Medicaid you need to find out what services he is authorized to receive. I assume you are doing an annual statement outlining how his money is spent? If not, who is?

What is a good self defense style for a disabled person?

Saturday Jan 24, 2009

I have a minor disability that affects my balance somewhat and my ability to stand for long periods. I'd like to learn self defense. Would boxing be adequate? I don't really care for participating in tournaments, I just want the self defense bit of it.
I already carry concealed. I travel by air extensively, It would hinder my travels to depend solely on a firearm ;p. I do love the sense of humor, though!

Jiu jitsu if staying on your feet is your only problem this is perfect because you do most of it off of your back and all of the moves are super effective

Can a disabled person claim for financial help with a decluttering service in the UK?

Monday Jan 19, 2009

I would have assumed that it was like a home help cleaning service, but they seem to charge a lot more. I have a friend with a mental illness who could benefit from this on a regular basis, but dont quite know where to start enquiries.

You need to enquire at the adult social care division of your local authority (county council, if you have one, otherwise unitary authority / metropolitan authority).

What is a good home based business for a disabled person with speech problem to get into?

Thursday Dec 25, 2008

I am looking for something that I can do over the Internet, part or full time and something that I can do by myself. I have about 75% use of my right hand……..

Kish,
There's a troll that is bashing Network Marketing/MLM right now.

I work with a woman who is severely disabled because of Multiple Sclerosis for 25 years of her life. She lies on her matress in her bedroom at home.

I work with her every day with our Network Marketing business over the phone and she is very thankful for it. I am very thankful I know Donna as well.

Thank God for Network Marketing.

Let me list criteria to look for before joining a friend or family member or a stranger who is offering a Network Marketing opportunity.

Criteria used to evaluate the various companies are:

Is the company stable?

To determine whether or not a company was stable, I looked at the following:

Has the company been in business for at least 5 years?
Where does the company do business?
Does the company have a good reputation? (Check with the B.B.B.)
Is the company a member of the Direct Sellers Association?
Is the company publicly traded?
Does the company do at least 100 million in annual sales?
In my research, I discovered that the vast majority of home-based businesses are bankrupt within five years.

Generally speaking, the more countries a company does business in, the more stable they will be. It is a good indication if the company operates in the United States, Canada and at least one other country.

I also found that reputable companies were members of the DSA (Direct Sellers Association). Members of the DSA are held to strict ethical guidelines that would protect me and the consumer.

If a company is publicly traded, they are required by law to disclose all financial statements to the public. This information can be obtained by visiting the S.E.C.

Is the product unique?

Having a unique product or service was important to me because if the product was not unique, I would be forced to compete against other companies on price and convenience. By having a unique product, my customers would have no alternative other than to buy from me.

Is the product consumable?

This was my next question. Even if the product I am selling is unique but is not consumable, I would constantly have to find new customers. In other words, I would be unemployed until my next sale. With a consumable product, customers would continue to buy my products and I would continue to earn a residual income without having to find new customers.

Is there a demand for the product?

Having a unique and consumable product wouldn't mean a thing if there wasn't a demand for it. This is why I looked for a company that had a product that would be in high demand. In looking at market trends, I discovered that the 1 BILLION "Baby Boomers" are creating the largest trends in the world. As a result, I wanted to find a company that was marketing products that would appeal to this group of people.

Is there product validation?

I did not want to risk my reputation by selling a product that amounted to little more than "snake oil", so it was important for me to know that the product was scientifically validated before I could feel comfortable selling or recommending it.

Are you ready?

If you would like me to help you to find the right home-based business, I would be glad to assist you.

Is there any physically disabled person who moved from Montreal to Ottawa?

Wednesday Dec 24, 2008

I would like to know if anyone in a wheelchair has moved from Montreal (Quebec) to Ottawa (Ontario). If there is, I really would appreciate any information about how it was done or any other advice. Is it hard to move from one province to another?

If you just google support services for physically disabled Ottawa Ontario, tons of services will come up. I know I am only helping your question for once you actually do get to Ottawa, however, hopefully it will set you on the right path to finding your answer!
Best wishes.

What kind of everyday things does a mentally disabled/challenge person find very difficult or challenging?

Tuesday Dec 23, 2008

I have a project that I have to display someone with a mental disorder who would have a hard time doing something,..for example, a physically disabled person with no arms would have a hard time making herself breakfast, because she can't cook with no arms.
Very much appreciated, specifical examples are great.
thanks

I am a person with multiple disabilities and I am raising two young adults with disabilities. None of us are challenged. We live in bodies and with brains that are not ordinary. We face barriers that are artificially created by buildings and other physical things or by people's attitudes. Most of what we face is totally preventable.

Stairs, narrow aisles, and heavy doors prevent me from going places I want to go. One of my favorite restaurant I never go to anymore because they put a bunch of newspaper stands near their front door and I can't get in anymore with my scooter. I used to overlook the fact that I could not get into the tiny bathroom easily. I would get out of my scooter and leave it just outside the door and move into the bathroom holding onto the sink. While there - no one could pass by to get to the men's bathroom (because the hallway was so narrow) - but OH well.

I'm a disabled person , can I get a job at home?

Wednesday Dec 17, 2008

I'M A DISABLED PERSON, I CAN'T BE LONG PERIODS SITING NEITHER LONG PERIODS STANDING UP, IS IT POSSIBLE TO GET A JOB AT HOME.

Before investing time and especially money on any home-based business offers, it’s a very good idea to educate yourself on the different types of schemes there are out there, and what to look for - and look out for - before picking a home-based business. The Federal Trade Commission offers several advisories about home-based business opportunities and network marketing (MLM) schemes. Please review them before making any decisions:

When treated for pneumonia in a hospital on a developmentally disabled person how long does the recovery take?

Tuesday Dec 16, 2008

this person has seizures, cerbral palsey and moderate retardation.
seizures are controlled by medications. Has been hospitalized for
1 week receiving antibiotics and fludis thru IV for 1 week.

It takes a long time for your lungs to clear when you have pneumonia. I was hospitalized for a week when I was 30, and didnt have the DD problems on top of everything. I dont know what effect the developmental delays , CP, and seizures would have on the lungs clearing, but I imagine it would take at least a week, and the doctors would probably monitor the patient more closely since he/she wouldn't be able to communicate how they are feeling.
