Posted by admin | Under disabled Sunday Feb 1, 2009What type of jobs are there in groups home, and working with disabled ppl that require only a Bachelor degree?
Posted by admin | Under disabled Wednesday Jan 28, 2009I want to work in the industry that helps disabled individuals, seniors or therapuetic work. I acknowledge that most jobs in the industry require higher education but there is also a financial issue attached it. I have a bachelor degree in psychology and life sciences. Please advise. Also, does anyone know anything about being an instructor in private organizations for autistic individuals?
WOW! what is available? School Psychologist, Counselor for a group home. behavior specialist for group homes or foster home org. I don't know what the laws are there (where ever there is). It is possible that you could be a group home administrator. You could be a person that takes clients to job sites and monitors them while they do their job.You could set up a house to provide respite care to the parents of special needs people. you could also set up a vacation home if you are living near something that would interest special needs people (Yes, it is like going to camp). You could contact the court that controls conservatorship. they are always looking for people to be the investigator (determine if the conserved is being taken care of properly). they may also be looking for conservators (You take care of the conserved). The medical equipment field needs people to train people on the fitting and use of equipment.
What are some insurance companies that offer insurance if you become disabled due to accident?
Posted by admin | Under disabled Sunday Jan 25, 2009Hello everyone. I have life insurance and accidental death insurance, but I am looking for a company that offers insurance for money if you get injured in an accident and become disabled. I show horses and ride often. I am looking for something that would protect my family in case of a disabeling injury. Please only serious answers. Please don't suggest yahoo or google….I am looking for actual companies. God bless!
Disability coverage for someone who rides horses for a living? OUCH, it's going to be expensive.
Your BEST bet is to contact a LOCAL INDEPENDENT AGENT, because not all companies write insurance in all states, and have them shop this out.
It's going to be really, really expensive. I'm thinking, $1,000 to $2500 a month, if you're under 40 and in great health right now.

Can I claim my disabled son as a dependent?
Posted by admin | Under disabled Saturday Jan 24, 2009My son is an adult and is in an facility for the mentally disabled. I provide for all of his expenses including clothes, cost of meals and the facility. Can I claim him as my dependent on federal tax return? I maintain my home and he has his own room when he comes to visit. Due to mental capacity he is in facility. Can anyone help?
From your information, as long as your son does not have income subject to tax of $3,400 or more, then you would be able to claim him as a dependent. However, since he does not live with you for more than half the year, you would claim him as a qualifying relative rather than qualifying child. His dependency exemption does not qualify you to file as Head of Household, since his primary residence is the facility.
However, the entire cost of his care at the facility that you pay without reimbursement, including lodging and meals, appears to be deductible as a medical expense on Schedule A. Normally lodging and meals would not be deductible as a medical expense, unless those expenses cannot be separated from the total cost of care, and it is medically necessary that the person stay at the facility.
Even if your son has taxable income which disqualifies him as your dependent, you would still be able to take the medical deductions, since the gross income test does not apply for medical deductions when a person otherwise qualifies as your dependent.
What's the best bidet/toilet or washlet to get for a disabled man who has to transfer to the seat?
Posted by admin | Under disabled Friday Jan 23, 2009These are readily available for the disabled in Europe but we seem to unable to source one specifically for the disabled in North America (we are Canada but have tried the US too)
So we are looking at main stream bidet toilets that aren't specifically for this use. We need something that will be sturdy enough for him to transfer all the time.
the best toilets for disabled people are made by a japanese company named TOTO. check out their website. i graduated from plumbing school recently and im familiar with the latest plumbing fixtures. TOTO has a toilet that is computer controlled, and will wash and air dry after business is taken care of. they are relatively easy to install, but need a power source.
If a woman, and her disabled son are asked to leave their home?
Posted by admin | Under disabled Wednesday Jan 21, 2009They are asked this by her estranged husband, and his girlfriend. Their agreement was that they would sell the house, and use the money to settle off all of the debt.
Once the woman, and her disabled son left the house for an apartment, the estranged husband moved in the house with his girlfriend, and former secret child he had behind her back years ago.
Then the husband locked her out, and he put all of her items out in the rain.
He is now planning to stay in the house for good.
What can be legally done? Or has he just won?
She should have divorced him, then she’d have a legal remedy.

Can a disabled member of the Royal Family be heir to the throne?
Posted by admin | Under disabled Sunday Jan 11, 2009I just wondered this because we have laws that promote anti-discrimination, and anti-oppression, and also promote the rights of people with learning difficulties, or physically disabled. I just wondered if this would allow the UK to be ruled by a King or Queen with such difficulties - especially since they religiously intolerant. They don't allow Catholics to be in the Royal Family (because Catholics answer to the Pope, not the Queen) So I just wondered if they would actually allow someone with life difficulties rule the country, or would it pass to the next "perfect" heir?
Difficult to say, depending on how severe their difficulties were. A physical disability would not be as major as a learning difficulty. If they had severe learning disabilities, they would possibly reign as a figurehead with a regent.
