This is counselor orientation. This week counselors learn all the rules and procedures that they will need to know the rest of summer.
This video shows how the counselors learn how to do transfers from wheelchairs.
Some of the MDA staff did one-man transfers.
In the video below there are counselors practicing transfers from a wheelchair into an intertube and some of the MDA staff actually doing some transfers with their campers.

Why should veterans vote for John McCain when he has such a terrible voting record in regards for veterans, especially in comparison to Barack Obama? Why should being a veteran excuse him from voting against veterans? If McCain is such a good choice for the military, why are so many veterans speaking out against him?
Here is their respective records:
Obama:
1. IAVA (Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans for America) - Barack Obama “B+”
2. Vietnam Veterans Of America - He voted for them all but 1 time.
3. DAV - Barack Obama has an 80% rating
McCain:
1. IAVA (Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans for America) - John McCain “D”
2. Vietnam Veterans Of America (McCain is one of course) - He voted against them 17 out of their last 26 scored votes
3. DAV (Disabled American Veterans) - John McCain has a 20% rating

hmm, can't get the last link to work. It's a youtube video a group from Vietnam Veterans against McCain explaining how he has wronged veterans..
Din2600 - Actually, the not visiting troops because cameras weren't allowed is false, he wasn't allowed to visit troops by the DoD because he was campaiging. If 2600 actually means anthing to you, then you should know how to use the internet to look this stuff up..
This is confusing because one would think a veteran like McCain would be sympathetic to and understanding of the needs of other veterans and their families and clearly he is not.
"Posing the first question in a Denver town hall meeting yesterday, a Vietnam veteran challenged Sen. John McCain on his Senate voting record regarding veterans issues, remarking he had voted against increasing vets health funding four years in a row. Ignoring the veteran’s point, McCain testily — and repeatedly — insisted that he had “received every award from every major veteran’s organization in America. McCain has made the exact same claim before — and it is just a false today as it was then."

This is exactly the purpose of ADAPT. Check out their website: http://www.adapt.org
i will be riding by myself. do i need to bring someone to help me with my bag? i will have just one luggage; i want to travel light
You are getting very wrong information.
You cannot stay in your wheelchair during a flight.
Yes, airline personnel are very helpful and will generally give you all the help you need in getting around and handling luggage, carry-ons, etc. but that does depend on the airline to an extent.
When you get up the skyway to the cabin entrance you will be required to leave your chair and take a regular seat. If you have a folding, manual chair, and there is room in the cabin, some airlines will store the chair in the cabin, but if there is no room, and always if your chair does not fold up and certainly if it is a power chair, once you leave the chair, it will be taken to the baggage compartment and stored there during the flight. When you arrive at your destination, they will bring it up to the cabin entrance for you.
Edit to Add to Gromit: Interesting, but we have never had it happen exactly that way, and it may vary by airline (we almost always fly Southwest). My wife has always stayed in her chair up to the cabin door, and as she is able to walk a few steps, she gets up and takes a seat in the first row, and the attendant then takes her chair downstairs to the baggage compartment, and upon arrival, an attendant brings it up to the cabin door.
It may be different with SW's open seating, but I would think the airlines would require wheelchair-bound passengers to sit by the door, and not down the aisle, where evacuation would be so much more difficult (for others as well) in an emergency.
I've heard there is an extended insurence for motorzed wheelchairs and scooters which is great because repairs to my wheelchair r bankrupting me.I think if the chair coast u over $ 2000.00 then they should have an insurence like on cars n trucks.
Anyone out there agree say yeah!!! ;0}
Look up maker on-line they should offer this ,If not Sears Has some programs, also check with some of other medical supply stores in you area and see if they know. My cousin in Oregon called and found someone who new where to go.
My husband separated from the Air Force about 5 years ago. He has a 60% service-related disability for which he receives disability funds every month. My question: Is there a scholarship or grant that exists for me as his spouse, to help pay for graduate school? I live in TN. Thanks for any help you can give!!
Hi: Below is the VA web site that describes the Dependent's Educational Assistance Program. It looks like the benefits might only apply if your husband were totally disabled from his injury or if he were to die from injury-related complications. It doesn't look like TN offers educational benefits that will cover you either. Still . . . you should call 1-888-442-4551 to check. Also, there might be other options (such as grants/scholarships) on the second link below. Good luck!
